There are several types of membership in the Home Builders Association of Greater Cincinnati. Each type of membership offers different types of benefits.
Active Membership
Active Members consist of single family builders, land developers and major remodeling contractors. In order for a company to qualify for this type of membership, they need to meet certain criteria. The criteria are as follows.
Once a company meets these criteria, they submit their application to the HBA. After all references are received, a subcommittee entitled the Builder Application Subcommittee reviews all Active applications. This subcommittee meets prior to the Board of Directors meeting every month. After the Builder Application Subcommittee approves an application, they take it to the Board of Directors and recommend that company for approval. Upon the Board of Directors approval, that company becomes an Active Member of the Association.
This type of membership is an "all access" membership. They are entitled to all the benefits and services offered by the HBA. This includes all contracts, the Limited One-Year Warranty, Industry Standards Manual, Subcontractors Agreements and all addendums.
If, for some reason, a company falls into the Active category and cannot meet the criteria or are turned down by the Builder Application Subcommittee or Board of Directors, that company may become an Associate Member until they can meet the criteria. Under these circumstances, however, that company will not be entitled to use the One-Year Limited Warranty or any of the Subcontractor Agreements and addendums.
Associate Membership
Associate Membership consists of general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, lending institutions, manufacturers, service companies and any other company in the housing industry. All Associate applications must be approved by the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors meets once a month and reviews all applications at that time.
Associate Members receive all benefits available to members, except the use of the One-Year Limited Warranty, subcontractors agreements and addendums. They can obtain copies of the Industry Standards Manual if they so desire.
